Evaluation

As a group we have produced an animation in response to this brief. The concept behind the animation was looking at the idea of doors or doorways representing choices we face and the movement between the spaces as the choices we make through life. Overall we were happy with the final production but found that with the available time and technical processes we had to reduce our ideas right down and compromise from almost every angel. This changed the final outcome greatly but it still represented the elements of our ideas we each wanted to incorporate, all be it in an ever increasing abstract manner as the weeks progressed. If we had the time to edit the animation further there would have been more imported points of interest in each room, helping to break up the running time over each space/room and giving more energy to the animation overall.

The brain

For this project I looked at different things in which the brain remembers, works and the psychology.

Memory- The memory has Encoding, Storage and Retrieval, the brain has the ability on mixing or creating parts of memories to fall in the gaps of past memories.

ID-The Id comprises the unorganized part of the personality structure that contains the basic drives. The id acts as according to the 'pleasure principle', seeking to avoid pain or unpleasing arousal by increases in instinctual tension.

Ego-The Ego acts according to the reality principle; i.e. it seeks to please the id’s drive in realistic ways that will benefit in the long term rather than bringing grief.

SuperEgo- The Super-ego aims for perfection. It comprises that organized part of the personality structure, mainly but not entirely unconscious, that includes the individual's ego ideals, spiritual goals, and the psychic agency (commonly called 'conscience') that criticizes and prohibits his or her drives, fantasies, feelings, and actions.

Child Psychology- “And I was a physical education major with a child psychology minor at Temple, which means if you ask me a question about a child's behavior, I will advise you to tell the child to take a lap.” “Children don't read to find their identity, to free themselves from guilt, to quench the thirst for rebellion or to get rid of alienation. They have no use for psychology.... They still believe in God, the family, angels, devils, witches, goblins, logic, clarity, punctuation, and other such obsolete stuff.... When a book is boring, they yawn openly. They don't expect their writer to redeem humanity, but leave to adults such childish illusions.”

Memory Psychology- very often, we think of remembering slightly different versions of the memory.

Also for this project I looked at survival books on child psychology and adult psychology these are mentioned above, but one book which helped me understanding psychology called Teach Yourself Psychology by Hodder & Stoughton

Stop Frame Inspiration

For the third room i wanted to produce a painted stop frame effect, these are a couple of examples that i found for inspiration and an idea of how my final animation would look.
